Collet stud chucks

Collet stud chucks

Technical overview

Geiger + Haag collet stud chucks offer a more compact design than conventional three-jaw chucks. Their strong radial clamping action also has an axial component that secures the workpiece against a support.
The clamping jaws are supported in the chuck body and guided symmetrically to the axis of rotation. Their centring movement fully absorbs the tilting moment. This provides a strong frictional grip together with high concentricity and repeatability.
Interchangeable clamping inserts accommodate different diameters. The unusually large stroke for a collet system and easy insert changes make these chucks highly versatile.
Alongside the standard GHHZ range for bar stock and GHZ for cut bar sections, we also produce custom variants.
Collet stud chucks can be designed for external or internal clamping and are used to machine bars, tubes and shafts.
Main advantages
Face run-out caused by jaw lifting and chuck-body deformation is eliminated.
The axial actuating force automatically pulls the workpiece against the rigid locating face during clamping.
Very high clamping accuracy.
Steel construction, with all wear parts hardened and ground.
