Mechanical clamping fixtures generate their clamping force through threads, toggle levers or eccentric cams. Their advantages are high clamping force and self-locking operation.
The workpiece is clamped manually or through a redirecting lever or threaded mechanism. These fixtures are mainly used where space constraints prevent a pneumatic or hydraulic supply, or where fixtures need to be changed frequently.
